Apparently blond in my black hair is a bad idea and I kinda think so too now. =) Anyway, can you guys suggest a good stylish short haircut for straight hair? I cant do anything too too crazy because I have medical school interviews coming up but I dont want the standard haircut that everyone seems to have.

Whats the standard hair cut? But take a look at pictures of male models and see what hair styles you like.

The problem is there is no universal style. I know you're a student, but springing for a high-end stylist (Toni & Guy, etc.) is always a good idea when you're changing hairstyles, because they'll be able to tell you what works for you and what doesn't, and they'll also be able to do what suits you best. They are also BETTER. The advice I always got from girls (they do this themselves) is one of two things:

1) Go through magazines, the web, etc. and find a picture of an actor or an ad of someone who's got the hairstyle you like (and be realistic as to whether you've got the hair to pull it off). Bring a copy of the picture with you and show it to the stylist and he/she will tailor it to you. It sounds gay, but I did this and I got lots of compliments.

2) Have an idea of what you want to do (conservative/wild, long/short, low/high-maintenance, etc.) and go to the stylist. Tell them what you want and ask for their advice on what they would do. I usually prefer girl stylists for this, although Sinn mentioned in his guide that gay dudes actually do a better job. Either way, trust their sense of style, and as long as you choose a good place, they should be able to hook you up nicely.

Anyhow, like I said, it's expensive the first time, but if you're budget-constrained, you can always go to someone cheaper once you've got the style down. My own philosophy has been that as a guy, who knows how long I'll have a full head of hair, so I may as well splurge on it while I can...
