I wear bright pink polos and other bright colored ralph lauren and lacoste stuff. Popping the collar will get you some attention because although it may seem common, very few people actually have the balls to pop their collar without feeling like a douche.
... Don't pop your collar, please don't.
Even if you are a really nice guy, girls (and guys) will associate you with being a douche and not want to talk to you. Bad, bad taste imo. If you want to fit in with the gangsta/wangsta crowd then fine, by all means. But it's a major turn off for women.
Pink is good though. I recommend going out clubbing in a bright pink or bright orange dress shirt, maybe with a chain and with a nice watch. I just bought this super bright pink dress shirt and women open me just by talking about it. Seriously. The whole point of standing out is:
1. For attention.
2. For giving a girl something to talk to you about or approach you.
The girls that have opened me about my shirt "Nice shirt!" "Is that shirt really pink? or is it just the light?" don't actually give a fuck about my shirt. But if they see me and I look like a high value man (around women, relaxed, smiling, well groomed) then they have something easy and cued up to talk to me about. (Wearing bright colors and peacocking is also a bit of a DHV because it shows women that you are comfortable in attire that many men wouldn't be.)
I've worn that shirt 4 times, and each time I have at least k-closed. Last time f-close.
