So I started losing weight in December, I was 275 6'1. Since working out I am 235. Now I am kinda confused, I know you need to have a certain amount of protien and calories to feed your muscles. So how do you go about losing weight and gaining muscle. I don't want to gain weight but I don't want to starve muscle.

So should I focus on losing fat then work on building muscle mass after.
or
Should I build muscle while trying to lose fat.(if so how do I know how much to eat)

Muscle is a metabolically active tissue. The amount of muscle on your body directly determines your metabolism. Every pound of muscle will require 35-50 cal just to maintain so it is in your best interest to build muscle first. Turn your body into a machine for incinerating fat. Focus on larger muscles first for best results (Legs, Back. Chest).

You cannot lose fat & build muscle. You lose fat through a calorie deficit & need to be in a calorie surplus to gain muscle.

If you build muscle you're body fat percentage will reduce. Which is what you're really after. However it probably wont make much of a difference for a while.

I would say it depends on your build? If you already have a pretty solid muscular base just keep losing weight. If you're skinny maybe building muscle would be advantageous.

If you're fairly average, I'd say that building muscle is easier & probably more rewarding for your appearance.

You can build muscle and put on minimal fat gains. If you get your calories from clean food

OK, this makes sense to me. When I was younger I trained a lot but could not gain muscle. I am 32 years old now. I started to get a little belly. But now I do gain muscle and fast. Now I understand why. But suppose I achieve the muscles that I would like to have ... what is the best way to lose the little belly ? Is it possible to lose it ? Maybe at some certain age it is impossible to lose all fat in your body ?

fat does NOT convert to muscle. Fat is fat, muscle is muscle. Bread doesn't convert to wine, wine doesn't convert to bread.

the analogy was lost on you, it seems. He's saying that solid and liquid are two different things; just like fat and muscle are. They can not become one another. People think fat "turns into" muscle because, as they work out, they simultaneously burn fat and build muscle.

I still am not sure if anyone answered this correctly yet.

I understand fat is your body storing energy/calories. While your muscles use energy/calories you need protiens to build them.

My question is lets say I get my protien requirement to build muscle, but I am calorie deffecient so my body needs to burn fat for energy. Will my body still build muscle or will my body be in starvation and not use fat to build muscles?

You can build muscle and lose fat at the same time

You cannot gain bulk and lose weight at the same time

See the difference? You can change your composition, but if you are looking to gain or lose mass there is only one direction to possibly go to at a time.

Just get a proper diet with proper training methods, you'll shed the fat and keep the muscle.
