Need to lose 20-30lbs, help!

Ok so I worked out A LOT when I was in my teens, and it sorta dropped off when I hit 20. I'm now 24, and about 20-30lbs heavier, lots of soda and fast food mainly due to my laziness and the aforementioned. So I have plenty of muscle hidden, it just needs to come forward and be re-awoken. Should also be noted that my body type is considered primarily a mesomorph.

I am just under 6'1 and weight a little under 200lbs (fluctuates between 195-200)

I was in a police academy for 6 months or so and our PT instructor (Who is an ex-marine PT instructor) had us doing the following workout. Now it should be noted that he said that we could eat pretty much whatever we wanted as long as we drank PLENTY of water and didn't over eat, as long as we ate regularly.

3 reps = 1 actual rep considered, so in reality doing 30 reps of each exercise.

1.) Jumping Jacks
2.) Mountain Climbers (where you hold your self up like a push up and jump one leg forward and the other back rapidly)
3.) Cherry pickers (bent over and the waist reaching farther and farther back like picking cherries)
4.) Body bends (leaning forward, hands planted on hips, then up, left, back right, back to front)
5.) Push ups (self explanatory)
6.) Leg Extensions (on your back, arms out to stabilize, legs straight up, then left, center, right, back to center, then down and back up)

After that we would rest for about 2-3 minutes and then we jogged for about 30 minutes or roughly 1 mile.

My question is, since I've cut out soda and fast food completely, pretty much living on water and tuna/fruit and other red meats. (Lots of subway, minus all the oh so tasty mayonnaise and other toppings etc.) should I be able to shed the fat at a good rate and re-awaken my muscle?

I am doing this exercise nearly every day of the week, some days I don't but those are my rest days usually.

I am hoping to lose most if not all of it in the next three months or so. I really just want the fat gone, not looking to get jacked and ripped. Just good looking.

Heres the formula for weight loss (should be stickyed :wink: )

A= the amount of calories you need to maintain your current weight

A-500 (calories a day) x 7 (days a week)=3500 calorie deduction a week

it just so happens that there is 3500 calories in a pound of fat.

In order to determine "A" first you need to weight yourself than count calories for a determined amount of days lets say 7 days (14 would be better) if you don't gain or lose a pound multiply the total amount of calories you've eaten by the number of days you counted.

As far as body composition you should eat a Paleo diet

Remember your body loses muscle after a workout so don't over do it,

workout->allow enough time to "recover"->allow enough time for growth

I recommended you do some research on Dr. Robert Young's pH miracle. It basicly says that fat is the body's way of protecting itself from over acidity. And by getting on a more alkaline side the weight will come off naturally. This is also good for building of muscle too because what you eat and drink determines the quality of the blood. And blood builds muscle.

There's a lecture of him on youtube.

Overtraining along with other forms of stress can lead to be very acidic.

yes, exercise is good though because you can sweat out some acids.
