| Let's face it - healthy skin and hair is attractive. Here is one essential tip that I hope will help somebody out there.
1. Be Gentle.
Be gentle. I will repeat for emphasis. Gentle, gentle, gentle, gentle. Skin (including the scalp) is by its very nature sensitive. You should want skin that is as soft and smooth as a baby's skin, and hair that is a silky and soft as a baby's hair because that is what a woman will appreciate. If you have any sort of skin disorder, especially irritations like acne, you should be extra gentle on your skin. When you wash your skin and hair, imagine you are washing a baby's skin and hair. And if that baby had acne, wouldn't you be even more gentle and careful? Would you pick at the baby's pimples, and scrub his face harshly with some harsh-detergent like cleanser? No. You would pick a gentle cleanser, probably the most gentle cleanser you could find, and gently spread it on the baby's face. Then you would, with the utmost care, use your fingertips to massage the cleanser in and gently splash with reasonably temperatured water that will sooth the skin. Why would you treat your own skin any differently? I have seen those with acne destroy their skin with harshness. When you have a cut or rash on your arm, would you scrub it with 5 different products, one of them full of apricot grains or whatever crazy exfoliators are out there? Hell, no. I wouldn't see why one would treat their face any differently.
I have seen those will perfect skin care for it. A lot of the times they don't even use anything but warm water to clean their face. That would work for normal skin. But many of us don't have normal skin, and we must resort to special cleansers designed to clean out clogged pores and oils, or treat particular conditions. But that is no excuse to be overly harsh.
So whatever the condition of your skin or hair, gentleness is essential. Even "scrubs" should only be gently rubbed into the skin. Start treating your skin like skin. It sounds silly and redundant but be conscious about it next time you are in the shower.
