Hey guys I'm really skinny. No matter how much I work out I lose the weight really quickly when classes restart (I'm in university doing medicine). When they start I can't work out as often and my size just plummets really quickly too. I don't get it. My metabolism is fine...I can get fat but my muscle mass just falls. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I was thinking maybe it's because I exercise less. I don't have as much time when classes restart so I can probably do about 2-3 days per week. I eat a lot too but my muscle mass falls (I do eat a lot of chicken though).
Does anyone have any advice about why this is happening?
Or maybe you can suggest something that worked for you so I can try it (by the way I only have dumbells and no place to do pull ups or bench presses)?

Help me out guys this is annoying me because I'm usually comfortable about myself and my body but I just hate that when I put on a jersey that was fitting pretty good, the sleeves are past my elbows...

Sounds like the problem lies within your inability to work out as often. Obviously you can lose muscle mass this way. Losing muscle can be easier than gaining it. If you work out for a few months, and then suddenly quit for a while, you may find yourself to be weaker. It takes consistency and a well-structured routine.

Other factors may include:

1. Reduced caloric intake.
2. Cardio.

Where do you live? I'm sure you can find a place to do pull-ups. Utilize makeshift weights, push-ups, sit-ups, etc.

Eat more protein and sleep well.

That's the problem...I can't seem to find a routine to fit my resources. I live in a pretty cramped apartment during the semester (at home I've got a bench and place to do pull ups and everything). The only way I can do pull ups in the appartment is if I hang from the top of the door lol. There isn't even a proper gym I can get to so I'm basically in a tough spot.
I have a pretty high calorie diet and I eat a fair amount of protein. I'm thinking protein might be the problem though because I saw guys who say it's ok to work out 3 times a week and gain mass.
I know sometimes I do stop exercising when life gets really hectic buy I've pretty much decided that working out will help more than not especially when life gets tough. Do you guys know where I can get a routine to suit me or what I should read to try to formulate one? I've been looking but it's tough to make one when your resources are low.

Google search "bodybuilding" and click the first link.

That place is probably your best bet for everything. Diet, routines, knowledge, supplements, etc.

Seems like your a canidate for a high intensity training program
Heavy Duty or Max Contraction I reccomned. You train at most once a week. You have to follow the programs to the letter stress can effect your recoverabilty.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012F ... d_i=507846

You can also lose the feel of your size right after training everything goes flat until you have fully recovered.
