Home Workout equipment Public Gym

Pros Pros
-You own it -Other people/females
-Cost over time -initial cost
-Privacy -amount of different equipment
-spotters


Cons Cons
-The Space it takes -cost over time
-initial cost -distractions
-no spotters -distance
-isloation
-no females/pther people to socialize with

Id say have a bit of both go with these for alot of your upper-body work

It really depends what kind of results you want. If you're going for the slim and toned result then a home gym would be better. But you want strength and size then you'll need heavy weights (which cost a lot to buy).

use free weights

buy a pullup bar,
squat rack,
bench
45lb weight bar
and a whole bunch of weights you can add/subtract.

should not be expensive.

these excercises will cover almost all muscle groups

squat
bench press
pull up
deadlift
clean n press

Go for gym membership.

Ive being down both roads and i know a lot of people who have tried both.

Homegyms are good but only up to a certain point.

The SPAM is so much better in a gym, there is a wider variety of equipment, its easier to motivate yourself and learn more too.

All the people I know that brought a homegym have either given up or joined gym.

Yeah absolutely go to the gym. Not only will u have all of the best equpiment to ur advantage, you will be able to keep yourself motivated much easier. I cant tell ya how many times i was sittin at home workin out and just stop half way through a set to watch tv or something because a show i liked was on. At a gym however, your already there, so to justify leaving to do something else is a bigger internal struggle. There is also the added benefit of having other people around you who know what they are doing, if you are ever stuck about trying to figure out an exercise, most of the gym rats that go there would be more than happy to give ya a few pointers or even a spot if ur liftin heavy. Above all else, theres girls at the gym man, not findin that kind of quality or quantity in ur basement.

Public gym is fine.
At home is really difficualt trening, before the group of peoples are discipline you.

defenetly public gym.

you'll be way more motivated (i may be wrong, really depends of you but in general) and like other said, you'll get a range of quality equipement for 0,1% of their price. plus since you are woorking on your pick up, gym is a nice sociable place to meet!

I would go for the gym membership. I've had a gym membership for over a year now and I love going there. Its a good way to meet new people and pick-up some ladies. And most gyms you join give you free tanning so if you're into tanning.

Get a gym membership.

Even Arnold Swarzenegger with all his Money, Fame and Mansion Space opted to workout in Public Gyms.
He mentioned that with a public gym you not only have the interactions with people who can help, Spot or Motivate you, give proffessional- you also have the competative element.

Recently I joined a "spit and sawdust" heavy weights gym which is habitated by REALLY big guys with biceps the size of my head.
However as I'm still competing I have doubled my size in less than 4 months of training.

The only exception to geting home wieghts is if the gym is a rip off "Yuppie" Gym.
Not only are they NOT friendly to people who want to do a serious workout to get looking good they call them "grunters" (everytime you grunt everyone turns their head- which can be distracting).
On top of that they have this rip off 18 month membership contracts which cost a fortune and you can't get out of, even if you break your leg and can't train.
Also most people tend to be on fad diets, and/or are not serious about losing weight or gaining better body shape- as they just put the calories back on eating junk food and binge drinking alcohol at the weekends.

I guess it's just me then. I went to the gym and lost interest when my friend stopped going.

So I'm going to get some gym gear for my house when I get the cash. I'd rather go out to my garage to work out. But that's because there aren't any decent gyms that don't rip me off within 10 miles of me...

I personally love my home gym. I use a lot of free weight equipment and even body weight equipment. If you go to a gym, you will most likely be on a machine, which is great for isolation of a specific muscle, but the free weights burn more and make you stronger because of stabalizer muscles. The isolation thing kinda sucks but I'm serious about fitness and not at a gym to socialize... unless I'm playing racketball. lol That same isolation will either bore the hell out of you or help tremendously with self dicipline. If you want a feel for a home gym without the cost, go running by yourself.
