I caled somebody concerning transcendental meditation today. I have a shit ton of anxiety, and I think science has already proven that meditation offers a ton of health benefits and can aid in ridding you of anxiety in conjunction with proper sleep, exercise, and good diet. This woman said that I could learn the transcendental meditation for about 4 payments of $150 dollars. Then she said I'd have a life time service guarantee kind of thing where I could always come back to check in and see how I'm doing. I've heard some good things about TM, but also some bad things. Like recounts of people who were told they had to continue to pay if they were to learn the most effective ways of TM. Like being pulled deeper and deeper in financially, until the well runs dry....

Should I pursue this route? Have any of you guys ever been taught TM? Or do you think I should just go on to Amazon and order a couple pf books of the subject? After all, there are different kinds of meditation, but its all for the same purposes in the end anyway. To better your overall mental, emotional, and spiritual state.

What do you guys think? I could really use some advice on this one.

You apparently don't know what meditation is: thinking about nothing. Why would you pay someone $600 to teach exactly nothing? Don't be crazy! Meditation is something you can (and should) learn on your own. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position (you can go traditional if you want), and focus on your breathing and only our breathing for say... one minute. Congrats, you just meditated bro.

EDIT: And the transcendental part is doing it longer, so long in fact that your brain releases neurotransmitters that make you feel euphoric and 'transcendent'. There's really nothing mysterious about it.

Alright man, thanks. I'll just buy a couple of books on it off of amazon.
