Right guys, basically I am looking to start having a protein shake every day at around 11 as I have started a new job which gives me less time to get proper food at around that time.
Currently, I am using this: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/ ... 4502&sid=0

Body wise I am at very low body fat % and I play bball at a high level. My aim is to put on some more muscle mass.
Training wise:
Monday = 2 hour bball session
Tuesday = Gym (legs)
Wednesday = 2 hour bball session
Thursday = rest
Friday = Gym (upper body/"pull" upper body)
Saturday = Ball game OR gym, upper body "push" (if no bball game, I do pull muscles on friday and push muscles sat)
Sunday = rest

What I want to gain from this shake is maximum muscle mass and fast recovery. Price isn't an issue (within reason) but obviously it cannot contain anything that would be on the sports banned substances list. If possible - good flavour, easy to mix.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

that's what I was about to say, customers seem really happy and it looks good, they got undenatured whey and all the other sups you'll ever need.

There is no 'better' whey protein, whether you buy it at your local walmart or at GNC makes no difference both do the same job you can get from eating regular lean meats.

Best way I can help you is by saying you can by a overated 200$ pair of designer jeans or buy a pair of $40 levis.. both look good one is just more expensive..

My personal favorite is 100% gold standard whey protein from GNC ( great taste )

I agree if you're only looking to supplement with protein, however, if you're looking to get other benefits of whey, like immune enhancing properties, the undenatured whey is the only whey (hehe) to go. That being said, new zealand whey is the best, but so darn expensive.

Thanks Twenny Pence!

Myprotein is a popular one.

I use PhD Whey HT+...I am sponsored by them though, ha. But I used it long before I was too.

I agree with the other guys, MyProtein is good. The stuff I get is a 1kg bag of unflavoured Impact Whey Protein. It's cheap (£12.99 for a bag I think), and goes well with milk. It has about an 89% protein content with about 20g protein per serving.

I back iron science price is generally a couple of quid cheaper than myprotein and they sometimes throw in freebies with free next day delivery £55 for 5kg of whey isolate 90% (27g per scoop) and a 5kg bag will last you months ! http://www.ironscience.co.uk/proteinpow ... olate.html

1 protein should not be used as meal replacements, its always best to get real food in your system.

2 if you are going to, ^^^this is the worst stuff you could possibly use...there is almost no fat, almost no carbs and its 90% isolate which is the worst thing you can do in this situation.

Don't over think your protein, if this is going to be meal replacement (or anywhere near that) you can go to town with your fats and carbs (to a point) I've seen your body type and I know your naturally lean so just find something that tastes good, use CONCENTRATE not ISOLATE, isolates are very very fast absorbing which is great right after a workout but as a snack/meal it's going to leave you hungry in a very very short amount of time. Concentrates are much slower and will keep you full longer.

Recap - Anything that fits in your fat, carb and protein needs, your trying to put on so don't be afraid of the fats and carbs too much and get a concentrate not an isolate.

also, is there a reason you specified whey? Casein is also very good and in many cases whey/casein blends can be the best and for what your doing I would look at good old muscle milk/monster milk. it's a blend of several different proteins, tastes like fucking ice cream and has some good lean lipid fats, carbs and a good amount of protein.

I've tried a few and MyProtein strawberry flavour is by far the nicest tasting. It also contains a higher protein content than other brands. (Around 80% as opposed to 70ish%)
