Guys,

I need your help. For years, I've been unhappy with my weight and, with one exception, I've never been able to shake it. I can't help but sit and think, "what is wrong with me?" I need to lose this weight now because it's not going to get any easier once I'm past thirty.

Also, I realize exercise is part of the game. I need determination there too. I used to get up at 6:30am to go to the gym before work. What the hell happened to my motivation?

So, for this post, I'm simply asking for some moral support. I'm requesting that you guys discuss how you manage a diet on a daily basis and how you keep from touching the pastries, the burgers, etc. and how you maintain consistency with the gym.

Hey DanEsq, first of all I'd like to say I know how you feel. I've been going on/off at the gym since high school and I always lose my level of determination after around half a year. This may not be helpful advice but this is how I've been looking at it for the past few weeks (a new outlook on life you can say :).) Every moment you waste you are closer to the day you will regret not jumping into action. I am 19 years old, and I refuse to be driving down the road in ten yearshaving "forever young" play on the radio and reveal how pathetic my life was.

Good luck and best wishes.

Developing good gym habits is the biggest obstacle for some people who want to improve their health or body image. Getting inside the gym can be a tougher challenge than any workout for some people.

What I recommend is that you find some sort of ideal physique and focus on that, maybe its some model or a physique competitor/bodybuilder and set that as your image. Find a song and have it be your motivation song that gets you to the gym, so everytime you hear this song your mind will automatically shift itself into a gym mentality.
Also, take baby steps. Dont look at yourself and say its gonna take forever to change or its gonna take hundreds of workouts. Just focus on the next workout, the next set, the next time you have to train and go from there. It will work wonders for your mentality and set you on the right path.

Remember, building a better physique is like building a house a single brick at a time.
