depends on GENETICS, NUTRITON, TRAINING. etc. alot of peeps gain weight but its water or fat and not lean muscle. with ok genetics, i say a lb to 2lbs a week.
ive gained 20lbs a month, but prob 7lbs of water, 5lbs of fat. but i slept ate and train, dungeon style.
Thanks, man! I recently read that you could only gain 5 lb in a year, which must have been misread by me. There's no way anyone would have said that.

Cheers for the help.

What whey would you recommend? Like what specific product. I agree with what you've been saying on weight gainers but they can be good for someone like jaybot and me (i'm 6' 3 and 11 stone). I've been using Mammoth 2500 and I has been putting on weight rapidly. However, as they are so much sugar it does come on as flab (go mini-love handles for the first time in my life lol) but if your goal is just to put on weight then I would recommend them.

Back on topic, so can you give me a list of a few whey proteins you would recommend, some cheap ones as well as expensive.

Appreciate It...

Hey there,

My stats:

Height: 5'11''
Weight: 160 lbs
BF %: probably around 12%

I am slender, and for some time now have been doing chin ups (25 a day) as well as the Perfect Pushup (now up to 2.5 sets of 20 a day).

I recently saw my friend who has been working out for a year, and he suggested creatine to see some quicker results.

My goal: Become ripped and in the neighborhood of 175-180 lbs for next summer.

As of now, I only train at home withy those two devices (and crunches/bicycles, and recently added 4 days of running to the regiment), and will not have access to a gym until September.

What can I do now to prepare myself for an intense 6 months of gym training to get my boddy bigger and more cut? Would you advise taking creatine with my training now or possibly some other supplement?

Thanks

I'm 6 foot, 1 inch tall & 157 pounds and I finally have some abs for the 1st time in my life.

I started working out about 7 months ago when I really dove into Pick up & weighted around 184 lbs. Lost 20lbs in the 1st 2 monthes, & have been focused more on gaining muscle since. Started taking creatine & protien about a month or 2 ago & guess I might have gained a couple pounds on my upper body which is what I weight train on, jog to work out my legs.

I think my muscles are getting a little bigger but it seems like a slow go trying to maintain my low body fat & gain mucle. I'll go weeks where I eat more & gain a few pounds then have to eat less and lose. What's the optimal way to gain muscle without the fat or do I just have to do a gaining phase, then a cutting phase? If so how long would you suggest or some other pointers on that phase & then the cutting phase.

I want to do everything to try to give me an advantage in pick up. I feel better about myself so I think most women sense that. I think I look a lot more masculine now as most of my weight at 184 was on my ass of all places.

Hey RX

I know a bit about lifting - i've been doing it for 7 years. One thing i've never been able to do is get a solid ripped 6-pack.

I'm guessing cutting 500cal per day off my basal metabolic rate is the way to go (plus lifting). How do i go about determining what my rate is?

What's your opinion on carbs-protein-fat % calories in diet?

Do you even think ab workouts matter for this? My abs are pretty strong, just under some fat.

What are some good foods in addition to what you've posted above? I'm trying to purge my house of all food that's BS and replace it with good stuff.

I appreciate the help.

GOMAD Diet is the quickest and most efficient way to build natural muscle and squatting. You can gain 25lb in 25 days. It is not BS as I have tried and tested it.

Whey and Fish Oil are the only supplements I take also.

Ive posted this a bunch of times about this but Ill answer it again.

Count every calorie you take in for 5,7or14 days (preferably if you can 14 days) without gaining or losing a single pound (thats important) than divide by that number 5,7 or 14. Take that number and than start reducing it by a hundred calories a day. Until you get to 500 (or 750 if you can) you will lose a pound a week. It takes time and patience if you go over a bit on one day just compansate on another day ie. if you went over by 300 calories cut 600 for the next three days and your back on track.

As far as the six pack goes genetics play a role. Are you a endomorph, ectomorph or mesomorph.

Endomorph=stocky person (soft fat),short and thick boned.
Ectomorph=skinny person long and lean boned.
Mesomorph=Muscular athletic build even boned.

To determine thistake your thumb and index finger and wrap them around the end of your wrist (like a braclette) if their is a space in-between them your a endomorph. If they fit perfectly your a mesomorph. If theirs room that you can slide something beneath your fingers and wrist your a ectomorph.
Note not everyone will fit perfectly in these three groups.

For any fellow endomorph its very tough if not impossible to get super ripped, cut yes but not ripped.

Hope that helps.
