My self-improvement is going well after a month of falling back to self-pity. Now I am trying to fix my diet. I am jogging every morning, and eating more food, because I am a super skiny guy. I gained some weight, but I am concerned that I eat whatever I get my hands on. I would like to learn about nutrition, it's too darn complicated and I am overthrown with information on the internet. So my question is this:
If you had just ONE book/video that covers most of the basics of nutrition to give for advice to someone, what would it be? I don't want to be a nutrition expert, just eating "perfectly" healthy, for better brain function.
I am (trying to be) someone who plays soccer 3-4 time per week, joined a gym included swimming, doing a lot of things that require mental focus (poker, chess, college), learning pickup... so my day is pretty full. It takes a lot of energy, from the right kind of food.

PS
People say that PUA forums are no good, but whenever I had trouble, the best place for seeking wisdom/advice are you guys, so thanx a lot!!!

You don't need a book/video to learn about nutrition. Eating healthy is all about common sense.

Since you're a super skinny guy, you're what we in the fitness industry refer to as 'a blank slate'. If you're below 30, and do not have any genetic/medical condition that would restrict you from growing, you can grow bigger in 3 to 6 mths just by doing the following:

1) Eat LOTS of red meat(beef/lamb), white meat(chicken breast) and salmon, especially the skin(fish oil is super good for you body and brain). Grille or steam the meat.
2) Eat loads of Broccoli(highest protein amongst all vegetables).
3) Eat loads of nuts(raw/roasted but unsweetened/unsalted)
4) Eat loads of eggs(3:1 ratio egg white to egg yolk - some in the community say eat all the yolk but I usually only eat more yolk on training days for the extra calories)
5) Eat loads of organic peanut butter and butter from grass-fed cattle
6) Avoid anything that comes ready to eat, e.g. in a packet, can, tin, box, wrapper, bottle etc etc.
7) Avoid all fast food(pizza, burger, taco, hotdog etc etc). You can eat it if you made it yourself with fresh, healthy ingredients.

Steam or grille your meat; never deep fry. Steam or boil your vegetables. Do not slather anything with dressing or gravy.

It's that simple.
