Has anyone tried this ?
It was a form of martial arts created after the Second world war, by a jewish man, the Israeli defence force along with other militaries and police forces around the world train with it.
I have had about five lessons so far, and am enjoying it, proper physical, the warm up alone feels like killing you.

Was thinking about it. It seems to be :
  • physical, so a nice way to stay fit
efficient, so in case of delicate situation you'll be able to manage it with confidence
ugly, as it focuses on efficiency more than elegance
Knowing my priorities, the last point made me choose ju-jitsu instead :) Nicer but less efficient in my opinion. But if you like Krav Maga, go on man !

Krav is a great cardio workout. And it'll teach you how to elbow someone in their face fifty times in a row so they leave you alone. I don't think there's much else to it besides that.

I've done about 12 hours of training in it, and hoping to get involved a lot more into it.
It is fun, and is a combination of different martial arts techniques, its not a competition martial arts, so it is one of the most effective self defence martial arts out there, it doesn't hold back.

Its true what you say though, it isn't graceful, but looks epic when shown in full force.
I recommend anyone to go and try it, invite a girl on a date to one of the training session, its about using the attackers body against their own, so anyone from any size or background can do it.

No, but I want to though! Thanks for the positive review!

Perhaps Krav Maga's beauty's in its efficiency. David D'd dub it "Conspicuous precision."

very popular here in brazil.

the original krav maga, practiced by the israeli army is pretty efficient.

the krav maga ppl use to practice here is not really that efficient. I´ve fighting since a little kid (tae kwon do for 5 years, kung fu for 2 and half and muay thai in the last 10). and mostly I think krav maga training lacks contact. in muay thai, kick boxing and other full contact sports you learn beatting the crap out of someone by beating (and being beat) the crap out of someone.

why do I say that, when you practice shadow style you train to hit near, but not in the correct place. when you practicing hitting real all your body and mind is trainned to the correct distances.

You're not gonna need it unless you get into a fight.

If you think you're gonna get into a fight, don't piss people off.

If you're pissing people off, it's time to calibrate.

Want to get in shape? Join a gym, work with a trainer, stop being cheap.

If you want to learn how to fight, there's no replacement for Krav Maga. I've practiced with one of the Krav Maga guys (I used to do sambo) and they definitely focus on effectiveness rather than much else.

If you want to work out, then there are cheaper methods than taking a class. In my opinion as I've done sambo for six years, every person has to know how to fight. So stick to it.

Look forward to taking a Krav Maga class by this year!

I've literally never been more excited about something than this. Wonder why...

It's probably 'cause of the certainty that those who roll with me (and myself) will be GUARANTEED awesome protection if the situation calls for it. It also grants a level of prestige when talking to someone about it, too.

In fact, the answer to my own question is that it fills the Six Human Needs:

- Certainty (that we're going to kick-ass/not die),
- Uncertainty-Variety (It's fun, and we get to learn new moves and situations)
- Significance-Being Needed-Feeling Important (We're boss, our body is a weapon, we have serious value to anyone rolling with us)
- Love-Connection (We can give love in the form of protecting those we want to keep around)
- Growth (Hell yeah we grow! We develop our strength, dexterity, etc.)
- Contribution (We contribute to the level of safety and order of the world!)

In other words, Krav Maga's (or another quality martial art's) probably the best investment we can make at whatever point in time!

Awesome thought process. Let's all get Krav Maga lessons and give lessons to our fellow PUAs!

That's my dream--to get Krav Maga into all of the aspiring PUAs.

Tell me what you think!

Your Friend,

~ Surrep

Krav is a great workout and is a DHV because it shows you are manly and capable of defending loved ones. It will keep you in shape and give you more confidence it the face of potential danger and conflict. Like Mystery said in The Game "I wanna learn martial arts, that way when I get mad I can do something about it." Actually, that's a retarded reason to take martial arts, but you get my drift. I'm all for Krav in the pua community.

I've been doing various Martial Arts for 15 + years and I compete in MMA, brazilian jiu jitsu and submission wrestling.
I would have to say the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the ultimate martial arts along with any realistic form of kickboxing or wrestling. I personally have fought a few trained in krav maga, and while it may help in self defense, I do not think it is as applicable in a one v one fight against an experienced opponent (unless you trained in the Israeli Army in which they teach you 'real' Krav) .

If you want self defense buy a gun. If you want to learn how to strangle people without throwing a single punch do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or any other grappling art.
If you want to learn the best way to win 1v1 I would take MMA. If you want to learn how to blow your load in 2 minutes and elbow and kick people in the balls take Krav. If you like the standing and striking aspect and want to tone it I would take Kickboxing, Muay Thai, or Boxing.

regardless any martial art is good, but you should make sure the instructor has competed on some level at least.

I have practiced Krav Maga for almost 6 years and I was about to be an instructor (the exam is done in Israel. Yes, I'm talking about IKMF) My instructors were given their instructor certificate by Eyal Yanilov, so I can say with confidence that they knew what they were teaching. (both my instructors were Expert 1) Now, people always get different martial arts wrong. This one is better than this other one blablaba. There is no good or bad martial art. It is you that makes it good.
The thing with Krav Maga is true, that you lack a little bit of contact in training, but it is because you just cannot go 100% with KM in training. You don't want a broken bone, perhaps, even killing someone or leaving them blind. KM was designed to defend yourself and attack at the same time as fast as possible.

In the street, outside a bar or any part of the street, nowadays is rare that a fight is gonna be 1v1. If you wanna compete, sure, go ahead with MMA,BJJ, etc. You wanna get fit, any martial art would do. You wanna be able to defend yourself in a safe and fast way, KM. But always, respect your opponent, no matter if he is the UFC champion or the homeless drunk dude around the corner.
Martial arts are beautiful. There is a reason is called "an art."
