just multiply by 2 and add about 10%

so for 200 kgs you get 400 + 40.

or for 100 you get 220. etc.

Metric is simpler, more logical, and it is the International System of units. (SI. (because the abbreviation is from the french, Système International))

lengthy discussion aside; everybody uses/should use kg. as it makes for far easier mathematics when working out physical problems and doing basic calculations.


back to topic: I agree with you tooothpick, you could well start out with a twice a week program, but I don't think there's ever a warrant for going for higher frequency than that.
Especially if you're doing proper workout, which produces meaningful levels of inroad into the muscle.

(the muscular adaptation cannot speed up beyond a certain point, and I believe it is generally accepted that this point is minimum 3-4 days for the type II-b fibers, which are the final fibers to be activated as you gradually weaken towards the end of the work-out session.
Since these muscle fibers are the last resort of the body under stress, these are the ones that should be targeted in order to stimulate the adaptive response of strength increase.)

Considering this limit, if you are able to work with full intensity, and thus tap into and fatigue, the final muscle fibers it doesn't matter whether you're at 100kgs or at 500- (in pounds that's 220 and 1100)
Your body will respond to this as an immediate threat to it's life and will adapt so as to make you more able to cope with this level of exertion. (However you trick it, and increase the weight next time)

So, Your point is valid given the assumption that the trainee is unable to fully fatigue his muscles, and needs to build up his mental focus through gradually pushing towards his real limit, and the grueling stress and acute anxiety that you experience when you are able to push your body to this limit.
