I know that you're a big fan of McGuff's book. I picked up a copy of it on your recommendation (thanks very much btw). To be honest though I find the whole process of learning what to do to try to lose body fat confusing what with conflicting info from various experts.

He seems to be quite convincing, but I think as with all products from the health and fitness world, its part fact and part marketing/pr.

I'm wondering what kind of success you (or any of the others on here) have had using Body by Science.

It might be particularly interesting to hear from anyone who has tried other health and fitness "gurus'" books and has a basis for comparison.

I must have done a shitty job expressing myself here.

I really do appreciate the recommendation RVAIS, and his book is very interesting.

I was just curious what kind of results you have had from his stuff. Between him, McDougall and a lot of the low GI people, I find them all convincing (and confusing). I thought an honest to goodness testimonial might help :)

Its all good dont worry about it. I actually dont use the big five like MCGuff recommeneds I actually was using his co-Authors system Max Contraction. Using his system I lost 50lbs (mostly by dieting) went from 285 to 235 and increased my strength to the point where I maxed out my equipment in very short order also my cardio and flexabilty have also improved. Iam now using a variation on the Max Contraction system, its basically a static isometric contraction, basically the same thing as a max contraction but without having to lift a weight into the fully contracted position. Unfourtunatly theres no real way to track your progress with that as I dont have the proper equipment. I want to make my own equipment using a pulley and force guages maybe open up my own gym.

heres some examples of what im talking about
