I had a home gym and never used a spotter, if I couldn't bench the weight I had, I let it lean over to one side, escaped and took off a little more. (I have a weak chest, sue me :p)

I'm much more comfortable with a home gym personally because you don't have to wait for someone to quit using the machines. Also, I'm all for free weights, some machines are useful, but I'm def. a free weight guy. I love leg pressing, that's the only downside to the home gym I had, I had no leg press -sad-

It depends also on if you want to get ripped off per month or year. Those gym memberships are fuckin scary if you read the actual print lol they're what drove me to say hell no. If you want to join a gym though, join your local rec center if they have a gym. Stay away from gold's gym and chains like that.

I have worked out at two public gyms. They might be in your city. Spectrum and Bally's. They both had amazing machines and I can't say I didn't love working out there. The thing that lead me to quit working out at Bally's which was my main gym was the distance.

On top of everything I canceled my Bally's membership on time when I was supposed to according to the contract. Yet I've been charged an extra two months. During those two months I never went to the gym.... I ended up closing my bank account tied to Bally's so I wouldn't have to pay them....They are now sending me letters in the mail..

Work out at home if you want to avoid the bullshit...

dude, home gyms are a waste. it costs soooo much money for all the equipment. Just find a small "hole in the wall" gym that not a lot of ppl know about. that way its not overly crowded and you can focus on your work out with out being distracted

Theres more free weights availiable at gym, and no need to keep changing the weights like you do at home.

First gym membership I had, cancelled and they still kept taking money, so now I go different gym, and pay cash upfront for six months or one year.

Dont get home gym no matter what. At first it seems better cause no need to wait for equipment, convinenance etc, but hell gym is a lot better. Theres a reason why bodybuilders, even though they have plenty money to buy the most sophitisticted home gyms, hit the gym

Depends on the person, as I said earlier I prefer working out at home :)

Have you tried going to gym?

I suppose there are exceptions, like everything, but I can strongly say most people would achieve better results hitting the gym (prefrably where there aint too many dikheads and you can ask for advice)
