to respond on the opinion of my friend above, i disagree on the fat burner and brain stimulant effects. these are often filled with BCAA, sugar, cafein and other medecine often used for heart-deseased people.
but i defenetly second whey, fish oil, green+, multi-vitamin and cafein (in good quantity)
the only thing is, these can be useless without an proper diet.
I totally agree with your opinion man. I absolutely hate it when people take supplements without proper diet and exercise and expect to get huge or ripped.
I forgot to mention that most of my reasoning is from a mixed martial artists view point because that's where I based the effects off of, but I doubt it changes the effects.
I'll give you reasons for the fat burner in just a second when I answer RVAIS, but the brain stimulants improve the mind-muscle connection as well as increase concentration, memory, coordination, and endurance. Users have also reported an improved sense of well-being and lower perceived levels of exertion. The main benefits of these supplements is that they give you increased energy and focus without giving you that jittery feeling that you get from caffeine or ephedrine; hence the term brain stimulant. Another added benefit is that some of these herbs help regenerate the central nervous system after an intense training session.

All supplements are crap. I only use protein and creatine, and I take a multivitamin and fish oil.
Here's what works:
-Protein powder
-Creatine
-Multivitamins
-Omega-3 Fish Oils
-Mixed Green Products (basically a powdered blend of a variety of fruits and vegetables)
-Caffeine (for a preworkout supplement - coffee or tea for example)
-Brain Stimulants (increased energy and focus)
-Thermogenics (fat burners)
That's it. I'm an exercise science major and I've researched and experimented with just about everything. I really hope this video reinforces the point that hands down basically all supplements are shit.
Supplements in general are not necessary eat whole foods to get protien and creatine requirements, just drink coffe or green tea, eat "real" green vegetables, just eat salmon once or twice a week for fish oil, ginko and ginsing Ill agree w/ you there, as far as thermogenics
"How do they burn fat?" convince me!
That is true. Supplements are not required by any means but they have many benefits and can increase performance. I get what you mean by real green vegetables your point is totally understandable, I eat vegetables at every meal so I have no need for mixed green products, it is just intended for those who cannot or are unable to get a sufficient amount of vegetables in their daily diet.
As for thermogenics, they are only intended for those on an extreme weight loss diet and could use a little help.. Although I personally believe there are no shortcuts. I cannot stress enough that your diet and training should be your primary focus. As for how they burn fat... Its been awhile but lets see if I can remember. I believe that they generate heat and increase metabolism. Due to the increased heat the body will speed up the entire body's metabolism to maintain temperature homeostasis. Now the problem here is that they do not stimulate fat metabolism directly, so users will lose fat but they might also lose some muscle mass. I can't remember what the process is called for the life of me, oxy-something.
Hope this helps
