I don't get cold sores, but I know several people that use Herpecin http://www.herpecinl.com/.

cold sores usually last 2-3 weeks...mine usually last 2-3 days! :P what i find that works best is the following:

buy some oragel swab for cold sores. use 3 per day.
never EVER pick at it!!!
and last but certainly not least....use hydrogen peroxide. put it on a swab and wipe ur cold sore with it. you should see it foaming. do this like 7 times in the day. u'll get rid of it in no time!

I get like one cold soar per year, it's strange and I don't get why.
Anyway I found what helps for me.
Some times I can feel that I'm getting one before it is visible, I put lots of Carmex on and around my lips before I go to bed, and usually if I catch it on time it never gets bad and disappears after to nights SPAM. Carmex also works decent on a cold soar that has already gone bad, but try to catch them in time!
Also, buy some make up to cover it up, it is possible to almost make them disappear if you really want to go out one night when you have a bad soar.
I heard something about a product called Abreva that is supposed to be good, I have never used it and I hope I never have to treat a cold soar again, knock on wood.

use an ice cube wrapped in a paper towel, it will reduce the swelling and should heal faster.

I also tried using tea bags in, as hot as you can take water. Cycling between the tea bag and ice cube.

Apparantly the tea has some weird properties.

At the first feeling of a cold sore ice it or put on some cold sore cream, this should stop it from surfacing if you catch it at the early stage (tickling stage)

my sister told me to do this, but I havent had a cold sore since she said, I'm gonna try it though.
apparantly, if u apply peroxide directly to the cold sore, the peroxide kills the cold sore. she did say it was incredibly painful though.
it might actually be dangerous, so mabye dont do it
I'll try it next time and let u guys know
