how can i be an alpha male in a group in which i was not alpha for over an year? Like, everyone in the group already have a beta impression about me, and there is already an alpha male in the group. If i do something that conveys an alpha behavior, the alpha tells the betas that i am just doing shit and everyone joins in and accepts it. Any ideas?

I have thought often on this topic, what I found was to take those in the group who consider yourself above them and use them to branch out and make a new social circle. Its kind of like being in the friend zone with a chick. You need to pull away from the group create some social proof(make new friends that are cool and interesting) and then come back into the group. They will at first try to place you back in the beta position but with you're new attitude and new social proof they will not be able to unless you break state and let them.

I have found however that the aspiration to become the alpha in the old group goes away as you become the alpha of the new group. Its like one-itist you are in a group you like and you want more respect and control but one you venture off and get that control and respect somewhere else the respect and control you craved in the first place goes away as you realize that the group/girl wasn't that special to begin with.
