I have a low pay job for which I am overskilled. For 8 years I looked for another thing until I gave up, about 3 years ago.

Now, after knowing of the PUA movement, I think probably it was my lack of social skills that sabotaged my job search.

Have you got any ideas on how to do networking and building trust with employers to get a job? I am talking about approaching and building rapport with a fat 50 years old guy who needs to know if I am the best professional available.

Please, don't make silly jokes. I am talking serious here.

It sure has to be adapted. PUA Gurus are not known for being hard working professionals, but maybe someone has researched the subject.

Read "Assholeology" by Steven Greene. It talks about a lot of the same concepts of PUA, but applied to jobs and friendships. Yes, you can definitely use PUA skills to get promoted: it's an art. Same model as pick-up, just different variables. For example, in pick up, you want to control the values of the parties such that you have higher value than the women, then let that converge. At work, you need to DHV, but never too much so that your boss feels threatened. You want to DHV above your coworkers, but not above your boss. Same concept, different inputs.
