I'm a bar assisant in a 4 star hotel working for the function department (weddings, funerals and part nights etc) in this title there are two varying placements - on the bar or on the floor. When your on bar, you serve drinks and it's by far the best place to be on shift or on floor where you take table orders, take their drinks out, collect, clean and polish glasses. Being by far the shittest and most boring position.
Here's the thing, i started there in the beginning of october. Working 5 shifts a week i am always on floor and it's making work very montonous. I'm mostly doing all the cleaning and the same old boring routine. I would like some variety! I've spent the last month working my very best to be placed in the bar but hasn't done squat.
If i was to confront my manager about this how should i go about it in your opinions? I'm very well trained on the bar already working on one for 4 months before i started there and i'm great at socialising with people. I don't see the problem. _________________ "At the end of the day these are women's lives we're dealing with, not mere entertainment."

Tell him you want to grow and become better at your job and you think working the bar will make you better and you think you'd be great at it. Just let him know you're interested, drop some hints, ask him what you can do to train for the bar. Above all, just show him you want to have that position someday.
