I am a quantity surveyor. I'm dealing with money all the time. I think that this is an attractive quality in a job.

Is your job attractive?

Jobs aren't attractive.. people are attractive
Hence why you see unemployed douchebags with hot girls who are trying to "make him change".
I work in security and don't make alot of money but I am around beautiful girls every day so I would take this to be an advantage over a guy who is stuck in an office. Of course you will always get the golddiggers who would rather date guys with money those are the type I try to avoid.

Attractive to who?

I am a know-it-all smartass because my jobs (and lack of) have taken me around a bit. Have been involved with development, education, technology, politics, finance, medical, hospitality, resource, and debauchery. I might have missed a few but a few cocktails and a question usually jolts my memory. This knowledge base is mostly useful only at cocktail parties where I can tell you all about the project cycle of an apartment complex project in Korea or which minister's office to contact if you happen to be selling pharmaceuticals in Cambodia, and maybe even his taste in liquor and women. Insurance codes, wireframes, seismic data, brokers for F-15's, or the guy who can get you the corner table at Jean Georges in Shanghai on a busy Saturday night.

Chaotic people with no anchors seem to be extremely attracted to this gypsy-like existence. Guys in clubs offer me lines of coke as if to say, "this is probably pretty tame to you . . . " Some chicks actually think that offering a blowjob, a business card, and a link to her pitchdeck is going to get something started for her. One time, as I was throwing my clothes back on, a confused blonde told me, "So you probably know a lot of Japanese businessmen. I'm thinking of getting into escorting. . . " - WTF? So she wants me to be her pimp? And did she think that Seoul is the capitol of Japan?

I've run into solid, home oriented, happy, smart, no-drama folks. . . but partly due to my misguided disinterest and mostly due to their intelligent evaluation, it's always been a mismatch.

I used to be a stockbroker, doing million dollar trades and all that. Seems sexy, right? Not really. I didn't even make that much money. And all the other guys there were old, ugly, fat, slovenly, afc's. What girls actually find sexy is your lifestyle, and to some extent, how much money you have. But your job itself doesn't really matter.

Dealing with money is not an attractive quality in a job. Who cares if you're dealing with other people's money? A bank cashier deals with a lot of money. A travel agent who exchanges dollars for euros deals with a lot of money. So what?

Attractive jobs = jobs that give you experiences more than normal run of the day job work in an office. Even jobs that pay well aren't necessarily attractive, but the extra money you get from them might well be if you buy nice things, or if it makes you feel more confident because of those things you can buy.

But having said that, a job is just one facet of you. You can have the most boring job in the world that pays terribly, but if you have an awesome personality and do something crazy at the weekends to tell stories about, you can still have plenty of girls eating out of your hand. Likewise, a really 'attractive' job can have no effect whatsoever if you're dull.

As said, a JOB is not attractive...a lifestyle can be desirable, but its the person.

IF you met a HB10- who said she was working in McDonalds, because she is saving to open her own high end restaurant, and McDonalds are paying for her to get REAL qualifications at the same time, sure the job isnt attractive, but it would show she has ambition, a plan on how to do it, and has actually got off her arse to do it. She might just have a Michelin star in a couple of years.

Again, a job isnt attractive.

I would say no. Last night sarging a cute girl. BTW yes number close. She asked me like after 3 min of convo what I do for work. I looked at her and was like no. Gave her a look of disgust then said. "That's boring talk." Then I chimed in "I don't do a dam thing." Then lit up with XXXX were better than that lets talk about the weather. My job is not sexy or even great but you know what I can sell it well. When I want to. Its like story telling if your great at it you can make any shit shine. If you can show passion and a lust for your work then yes talk about it. People are attracted to people who have passion.

You wanna know what my chosen career path in life is? A trash collecter!! I have the most unattractive job you could imagine.
NO women alive would find, what i do on a day to day basis attractive. but what my job does have which i see as a major help in my game! Is the chance to meet so many HBs, when women see that big yellow lorry with the most hyptoizing flashing lights.
Piercing the early hours of the morning darkness! They rush out in a daze still wearing yesterdays make up, with only wat she was wearing in bed that very nite. oh i've seen some eye watering girls opening there blinds in the buff to find me stood there collecting her trash!!

Before the game women would't even stare at me while i was working. now its a different story i approach every HB i come across at work and the results have shocked my hole game. they take no notice of wat i do as a job and only show interest in who i'am as a person. And if I'm asked wat i do as a living when out sarging, i just turn it into a game then make out that my job is the best fucking job any one could ever want. Add a few storys of catching people having sex and finding dildos and she does the rest herself ;)

What makes a job attractive- how you do it.

I can be a baker. Or I can win "Cupcake Wars" and be the best fucking baker out there.
I can be a hair designer. Or I can be a hair designer for Angelina Jolie.

Just don't settle for those dead end jobs. I understand someone's gotta do it, and if that someone is you, fine. But I just don't get the reason behind it.

Hmm. But you can't be the best baker out there. Realistically. Is there much chance of you getting your own bakery programme on TV? There isn't much chance of you styling Angelina Jolie' hair. Realistically.

And even then, to be honest, regardless of whose hair you're styling, some girls won't find it attractive. Some girl will have connotation about a particular job regardless of how good you are at it or anything else.

Now having a passion about it, and wanting to be as good as you can be at it is a different kettle of fish. If you don't really care about your job, chances are it isn't going to be attractive. And even if the girl finds the actual job boring, if she can see you have a passion about it, it can work in your favour (as long as you don't drone on about it and bore her to death). But that is a different thing to trying to be the best out of everyone. Don't get so het up with competing with others and being the best, unless you're in a tiny 0.1% proportion of the population, you're not going to be "the best" and you'll only ever build yourself up for disappointment.

A job can be overthought, but in reality it's much the same as everything else; stop overthinking it, do something you at least mildly enjoy and ideally do something you have a passion about. If your job is boring, then so what? If it brings in the money at the end of the month, then do something else that makes you more attractive. Attractiveness is far more about a mental attitude and a way of being; it's not defined by individual facets such as 'how attractive your job' is, or 'how well educated' you are, or 'how rich' you are.

What he said.

The only attraction that matters in occupation selection is your attraction to your job. That third person can go fuck.

My grandfather always used to tell me "Find a job that you like, and you'll never work a day in your life."

...of course, he operated the hoof grinder at a glue factory in Owen Sound, and he was extremely sarcastic, but it's a nice story.

As said it all comes up to how you introduces it.

Being a telemarketer i always hears the same fucking thing every time i tell people what i do.

People: Are you one of those annoying people who interrupt people on the phone, asking if they want to buy anything???

Instead of just saying: Yeah that me ahahaha..

I say one of these:
1. No i'm the nice one of us, but yeah i hate my colleagues (hahaha)
2. No i'm the one making people actually buy things. You see the interesting part is how you turn people from yelling at you to actually be you one asking you questions about the product (then making it more interesting bla bla bla)

Never failed at making my job interesting!

I customise cars - people do tend to find that interesting i admit - it is the lifestyle not the job though as other posters have said which causes that interest.

I started my first shop at 19 - at 30 i'm on my 3rd in a new country as an expat - the ambition behind that also creates interest - the job itself does not.
