If you invest properly (ie: diversely) then the only way you lose over the long term is if the entire economy goes to shit. In which case we're all fucked anyway . Yes a company can go out of business, but if you only have 5% of your portfolio in that company--big deal.

2) To make money, the first thing you need to do is get rid of debt. Do you have debt? Focus on paying this off first.

3) Getting a job--find a skill. Take some time and introspect. What do you have to offer? If nothing yet, then make a resume, put on some nice clothes and go door to door at local shops/restaurants/businesses. Get SOME kind of job to get some income going. Then find something marketable that interests you and learn everything you can about it to make it a skill.
