If you're an active, physical kinda guy (you said you go to the gym) you should definately look into doing something like a triathlon, bike race, duathlon, marathon, 5 or 10k run, or any competitive individual event. I'm sure there are tons in your local area that you dont even know about, just check out www.active.com. The benefits are many: you get a good workout, there are tons of athletic girls to interact with at the events, its as competitive as you want it to be, you'll have a new conversational topic and stories to tell, its relatively cheap to get into, and you get either medals/awards/trophys for (at worst) just finishing which can be passively displayed in your house as a further DHV or conversational starter. I've had a girl even not believe that I did triathlons and she insisted on seeing my medals to prove it...which led her right back to my room. There really is no downside to these hobbies, especially if your already a fit guy.
