What is your first language? Chances are somebody can provide you with an accurate translation.

Basically, you are only asking her if she wants to go to your place with you. However, there is a more or less arbitrary connection between the expression and having sex, much like the signifier/signified concept of de Saussure. Thus, it is not a direct question for sex, but it is mutually understood that agreeing to coming home with you also means that you're going to have some fun with each other.
It's pretty analogous to "grabbing a coffee", since this doesn't just mean getting a coffee together and parting company immediately after getting the coffee, but usually involves talking for a while.

My game is comparable, but I try to build up some attraction before I ask THE question:

So the best translation would probably be "Willst du zu mir nach Hause kommen?" (I also am a native speaker of German). Don't underestimate the power of the question though; it is a very bold one to ask and it is not to be delivered with a smirk, since this would take away all the effect. You are essentially asking for sex with the question, and your counterpart will be aware of that (unless she's completely sexually oblivious).

Sometimes I have the impression that the girls over here (Germany, and perhaps Scandinavia) are more bitchy than in the rest of the world. I often read that this extreme direct stuff works well in the U.S. and other countries, but here the girls rise up their bitch-shield very fast.
