Had a situation I wanted to get a general opinion on. So there's this girl who I went to college with, we were friends throughout and almost hooked up but then one of my good friends really wanted to hook up with her so I gracefully stepped aside. They dated for the last few years and I was always very good friends with the girl and we kept in contact even after college. Fast forward to a few months ago when she contacts me out of the blue to donate for a grad school fundraiser because my parents own a business. I did and we started hanging out again, first under the guise of meeting up to get the paperwork (might as well be at a sports bar), then to pick up the donation (might as well be at a bar), etc. The first few times I thought it was just a friendly meetup but I started getting an inkling it might be more because she was letting me pay every time and because she was meeting me at these bars to watch sporting events which I know she had little to no interest in. Anyway, I've been wrestling with whether or not to make a move on her but my friends have convinced me since I talk to her ex maybe once a year now I don't owe him any loyalty. Well, I had been planning on going for it this week until I broke my ankle yesterday in an ice hockey game. Frustrating but what can you do. Anyways, I was hoping to get some input as to how to play this. In a traditional sense, I would assume that this was not good because women are attracted to a strong man, not a guy who's on crutches and has to go back for surgery next week. However, I went out drinking yesterday as soon as I was discharged and one of my other friend's GFs who knows the situation said the crutches definitely guarantee me some sympathy love if I play it the right way. Incidentally, my birthday is this week and I was worried this would hamper my celebration plans but, once again, she said the leg actually works in my favor because it makes me more approachable and brings out the woman's natural nurturing instinct.

The girl in question, after we chatted, did offer to come over Monday after her final to hang out but I'm hesitant to let her see me in this condition and also am not 100% sure if it would lead to anything good or would just be a friendly check-in. Any opinions?
