You can DHV and show interest. However, your interest shouldn't be over the top, and it should be something that they deserve/earn rather than something that is TOO freely or easily given. It's a bit of a balancing act.

There are many, many, MANY other ways of DHV outside of showing interest. Your demanor, confidence, dressing, inteligence, all of these are examples of DHV's.
