Validating just means that you want others to know that something is like this or like that. When you self validate it means you want others to know something about you or the way you feel about something is like this or like that.
What type of person wants others to know that things about them are like this and like that? The insecure one because by telling others things that are self validating, he believes those things will become true. The insecure one will also tell others things that are self validating because he thinks people would not think of him like this or like that way if he does not say it.
Examples:
1.(I like cool things(i said it because you would not notice otherwise))
2.(my favorite ice cream is blue(Im telling you because otherwise I feel like you think I like other flavors))
3.(my top favorite show MTV(I have to tell you what I like else you would not notice))
4.(my best friend is cool,(I feel that I need to share this with you so you think of me as hanging out with cool people))
5.(I love the beach(I feel I should tell you the places I enjoy or else you would think I only hang out at my house))
IMPORTANT: all examples get thrown out when you are asked! "So, what is your favorite ice cream?" Freely answer example #2.
Can someone tell me how this is all wrong? Why?
