Am I doing something wrong? Has anybody had similar experiences?

Or try some stuff and see if it changes things - play attention to how people react
Make sure you are smiling - always a good one.

Assuming you mean shy in a good way, you can kino to loosen them up a little. When she's comfortable with you touching her she will open up more.
Also, you dont neg a shy or nervous girl, instead, I like to give them a genuine compliment, just dont make it an average one.

but sometimes its hard to tell whether they are acting this way because they like u or simply because they arent confortable enough with you...
In this case I am talking about day-time encounters, rather than nights out... be it work or school, with girls that you already know a little bit
Smiling is definitely important...
I will also try the compliment instead of negging and acting all cocky... might be it... because I messed up a number of times with this negging thing, seems like girls really get offended or something and I lose them even though there was interest initially...

Before I started up pickup, I was extremely shy around girls unless I felt they were comfortable around me when they talked. Like AFCs, there are also shy girls with low self esteem. Being comfortable around them, making them feel attractive will get them talking!

A girl im talking to will get nervous and say silly things and fill in any silences with random stuff. Like how i used to be around attractive women. U must be a goodlooking guy thats all.

Most commonly with very naturally shy, younger girly-types (18-20), which may be absolutely CUTE, but are very insecure being around a confident, good-looking, older guy. This makes sense, these girls are usually around 18 yr. old guys, that don't treat them like women, and don't present them the maturity level, a guy in his 21-24's does...
Other than that, worse-looking women are very uncomfortable around me. I'm usually very straight-to-the-point, and don't like to socialize at all with ugly chicks. So when they are around me, they are usually extremely uncomfortable.

But yeah, what you guys are saying seems to be true. I guess girls often tend to react and behave in a similar way as guys do in some situations.
