I've played this pretty C&F.
"I dont take prisoners..."
"You'd better put on a helmet.."
A man of mercy? Or a man of brutality?
I can't get the image of my highschool math teacher out of my head, he was the badminton coach, and he would say that kinda stuff
The teasing is great, that's probably the best way of going at it before the game, but tone it down a bit during the game. Do what was said above, and try to get it to finish as equally as possible, even if there's a risk of losing, it doesn't even matter, you can say 'pff i let you win, what kind of gentleman would i be if i kicked your ass?'
either way, win or lose, you can easily set another badminton date, as a 'rematch' since it was so close, the tables could turn next time. If you want to escalate to something more romantic - a day before the second date, say you injured your knee or some excuse, and change it to something less active. You can even call yourself out on being scared of losing in a joking fashion.
