So, there's this girl at my work. We don't work in the same department or even with the same people really, which is a good thing.... I bump into her in the hall every once in a while, and she's usually down to talk for a while; like almost too long. Usually, I'm the one that has to say "ok, I should get back to work, see ya." The timing hasn't really been right yet, but I felt pretty good about my chances until today.

Well, I was going to ask her out today and I saw her in the break room. I asked her what her weekend plans were and she said it's her parents anniversary and she'll be out of town. Before I could say "well, let's catch up some time next week; you down?", she started to pull away and get kinda awkward, which is wierd because usually she's so willing to chat. She kept looking behind her, which was unexpected cause usually she looks me right in the eye. I was like "ok, have a good weekend, see ya later" and walked away. WTF. I thought this was an easy deal, but now I'm kinda confused. Maybe it's in my head, or maybe my eyes gave me away. Maybe she wanted to talk but had to go...

What's the next step? What can I do to repair this awkward occurence, assuming it's even worth it. I feel like if I don't ask her soon the window of opportunity may have passed.

Just go and ask her out man. I mean, you've been waiting too long. This isn't a courtship.

She probably just had a lot on her plate. It might have just been a bad day for her. For all you know, it might just be that time of the month for her (you know how women get.) I wouldn't be so quick to think that you just blew it with her.

If you smoke, and she smokes, simply ask if she wants to go for a smoke. otherwise, ask her for coffee or lunch or whatever and escalate from there.

Good luck man. happy hunting.

Learning from a hybrid of PUA's and self proclaimed Alpha males - I say never to date or hook up with coworkers.

It's bad juju all around. What if she wants something more or less and you feel the opposite? You two are still stuck working with each other.
What if the boss wants to hit it and you're already on his "shit list"? Can your relationship work with the boundaries of your job?

I say, Never fish in your own pond.
There's too many better ones out there and it's not worth the hassle.

You've got a good point. but there's absolutely nothing wrong with asking your co-worker out. :D Its not the date that'll kill you. Its the break-up (and if it does kill you, you're probably an afc)... but hey, that's a different topic. let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we?
