I was also wondering if anyone had any insights on isolation.

I play in a band. We play at small clubs once or twice a week. While there aren't usually as many targets at these gigs as at larger dance clubs, there are usually a few sets. The problem is, while I love the music, it is usually really hard to hear and be heard when a band is on, making it hard to sarge. Then, if I wait until the band is finished, it's usually time for me to set up my gear or tear it down. Any advice?

The other thing is, most of the clubs I play at are pretty small. I can isolate, but it isn't really isolation per say as the best place I can take her is to the bar at the back of the club. The clubs are more like "one big living room." Does this matter? Do we have to go somewhere private and away from people when I isolate? Is the main purpose of isolation for the kiss and number close - as she might not be comfortable giving those with her friends around - or it is mostly for longer qualification routines, stories, and patterns - or is it a combination of these two?

Just do it. Take the target's hands and say:

“You’re great and I have to talk to you for a second. Will you guys mind if I take her for a chat over there?”

“You guys mind if I borrow her for a sec?”

“I'm stealing you're friend for a bit. You guys don't mind, do you.”
