Here is one of the things that I always use when i am introduced to any chick by a friend or introduced to a chick after i open. I have tried this at over 100 times this year with 100 % percent success rate.

I always say " hi, nice to meet you" and then i lean in give a kiss on the cheek. I ALWAYS DO THAT.
i am hispanic and its a hispanic thing to do when you first meet someone of the opposite sex, ususally hispanic girls are not surprised by it but other ethnicities are and they always smile when i do that.
Some guys here may think that its too foward but im telling you that it has never failed me to get an IOI when i do that.
In addition, the more natural you make it seem the less she will think of it. And if they do ask about it say "its a hispanic thing" or "my best friend its hispanic and he got me into it" and then transition into something else.
Ive done it with hispanic girls, white, black, indian, asian, you name it and all the girls were surprised and gave IOIs.
One time i was even introduced to a girl (who was drunk) by a friend, kissed her on the cheek like usual and the her crazy self grabbed my neck and started making out with me. Of course she did that because she was drunk but the point of this kino method is that girls will remember that.
of course always try what works for you, but, in my experiences this lilttle kiss on the cheek always gives IOIs.
This is only a simple kiss on the cheek, nothing that has ever hurt anyone, at least not me.

and what do you do if they lean back? do you say something funny or it's not awkward?

I personally do that too and never had a girl lean back. But if she did I'd go for something like :"Woah , don't worry I won't bite. Not yet anywayz (follow with cool smile) "

Yeah i second the comment above, i have never had a girl lean back but if that were to ever happen i would say something similar to what R.C said

a much easier way of doing this, which is less likely to get any awkwardness or anything is to leave the group, even is just for a minute, and get the girl to give you a 'kiss goodbye' and point to your cheek, worked every time for me

They never lean back. I always do that. If you're not comfortable initially, you just touch your cheek to hers and make a kiss sound. You don't need to put your lips on her cheek. You'll get more comfortable as you do it more.

Italians tend to kiss on both cheeks when they greet people.

do you think an Italian can get away with this? and would it have the same affect?

personally i always shake hands. this can come across as slightly too formal but it allows you to maintain strong eye contact. furthermore i always leave my hand lingering , if theyre attracted to you then theyll hold onto it. just a simple innocent test but one that gives you a great indication on whether theyre worth pursuing.

I was actually thinking about doing the same thing but I thought that maybe consistency would be an issue. Do you only do it on first meeting them or every greeting? Also do you only choose to kiss girls that are attractive to you or do you keep it 100 and do it to even unattractive females? When your with a friend that you greet in that way, she will notice when you do and don't greet with a kiss on the cheek. From their POV, they can only assume that your shady when it comes to that.

italians tend to kiss both cheeks and so do french people. i personally only do one cheek but from my experience as long as you do it naturally and dont make it weird 9 out of 10 times she wont feel weird. meaning if you want to try with both cheeks fuck it and do it. (sorry for the late reply havent been here in a while)

your nationally should not matter. being italian or french does not give you special privileges do kiss both cheeks or just one

good questions, i always greet with a kiss everytime i see them not just once. and yes i also kiss the unattractive ones. i make sure to get everyone in the group if possible depending on their position but yes try to get everyone in the group if possible but you dont want to lean in too much and reach all the way across the table or something because that would just be weird.

iv put my own twist on this by kissing them on the hand and just saying 'sorry im just a james bond fanatic' this always makes the girl laugh also i can then use soe really cheesy bond lines and come across funny
