so i was in the local the other night, when i noticed there was this three set sitting at the bar. i was enjoying a pint with my mate at the other end of the place, for about an hour and couldn't help but notice these girls getting hit on every five minutes but not getting anywhere. they were approaching wrong and the ones who approached right just blew it once they opened their mouths.

i decided to take action! this was an opportunity not to be missed. to not make my approach obvious i finished my drink in order to have an excuse to go to the bar. i brought my mate to be wing.

i used an opener which i believe was niell straus's about my friend being dumped by his girlfriend because of a box of pictures under the bed containing pics of ex girlfriends. it worked great like usual, however the more i talked to these girls the colder the conversation went.

i think the problem was that the opener was good enough to convince them that we weren't trying to pick them up however the convorsation after wasn't so convincing...

I don't think you should have pretended that you're not trying to pick them up.

I think you should have been honest about your intention. thats what being a man is about.

I say go from the opener which was working really well, into a DHV game (ie the cube, 5 lies). You don't want to get stuck on the opener and let small talk cramp you up. Progress, make the conversation go somewhere. Then you can get to isolating her.
