A very common shit test I observe is, is that mid convo, the chick will start talking to her friend or other people in proximity (bar.)

I can do the same, but sometimes there may not be other people around (when not at a bar).....I know I can walk away, talk to others, go to loo, have a smoke and come back later. But coming back later seems telegraph A LOT to the chick as in that look of "a-ha, you came back, you like-want me".....
