For a bit of time now I have been looking up various techniques of keeping a conversation going. I've read ideas of nouning, or questions answer question answer sequences, and various others. However, whenever I try I just cannot keep a conversation going. I always find myself just thinking hmmm what should I say now? Or what question should I ask now? This is not limited to strangers as it happens with friends who I'm close with as well. I just cannot think what to say! While i do believe some of the blame belongs to social anxiety I believe there is a much bigger issue because it happens with friends as well, and I just don't know what it is. I do find myself lacking interest in these conversations a lot of the time, but I feel that is caused by me thinking about what to say next. Any advice?

Just for clarification I can easily use openers, but that is about the last thing i have to say!

I think this happens to a lot of people, it happens to me also at least.

I think you just need to get out of your head, be more engaged in what is going on. If you're having trouble conversing, then talk about things you're into. Talk about your opinions and insights etc. Talk about movies music tell stories of things you've done in the past.


The majority of this is probably just social anxiety, so don't worry, just stay relaxed!
