I think there must be a fine line between sarcasm and gamblers 'tongue and cheek romanticism technique'
the other night i was out and i approached this hb9:

me: hey i couldnt leave this place without telling you how nice your stockings matched your eyes.. too bad every other girl here is wearing stockings.

hb9: (real angry looking) oh really that was the worst pick up line ever there are no other girls wearing stockings here.

me: yea sure there are (pointing some out) but i think its great you got all offended (smiling) it shows your ego isnt so high

hb9: (laughs)

after that it got more comfortable and we got chatting for a while until she asked if i was alone and i told her would it make it worse if i was and she said deffinently so i quickly called up my wing and asked where he was (only a few metres away lol) and i said i was with this pretty average chick (loud enough for her to hear)

hb9: :O average chick huh (looking upset)

me: no im only kidding you look great

then we went and spoke to my friend for a bit before the hb9's friend came along and dragged her off to the dancefloor

hb9: (getting dragged by friend) were going to the dancefloor.. you can come.


i didnt think she seemed keen and didnt want to be too needy but i have no idea cuz im still AFC.. and i didnt see her again after that..

all in all i thought i did ok with this girl but no number close or anything to meet again and she seemed to take my tongue and cheek a little seriously.

is there any way to make it seem more like im joking, not sure what im doing wrong. and also should i have followed her and her friend to the dancefloor? (friend was talking to a guy when i approached the hb9 so i never introduced myself to the friend)

LOL well you were doing fine considering you got from "that is the worst pick up line..." to actually sitting down and talking with her. You did more than fine actually. But leaving her when she invited you to go dance was your mistake.... thats where you more than likely would have wound up hooking up with her. You also negged the fuck out of her with that average comment (Be careful with negs), she was clearly self conscious a bit and you brought her value lower than yours without making her hate you...

You can comply to her sometimes... she was offering to do something you you, not asking you to do something for her, where as not complying MIGHT be the better option.

Definitely should have hit the dance floor. You would've spent the entire time all over each other n she would be good to close after. Its cool, learn n move on. Also, if you like this style of play (I personally do) learn to make it just how you are. Im sarcastic n will make playful negs all the time (make sure u r negging not insulting tho). Don't be scares to be playful. Also, you can turn alot of things into little sexual jokes too. I had some girls at my place last night n we made aslip n slide n my one boy was running the hose. One girl said "we have a good squirter here" n I said "ya, n terrell's pretty good with the hose too ". She loved it lol. Anyways I think its just more fun to be sarcastic n playful. Its just how I am, but if you make it part of your personality, it will def improve your game alot.

Just like octave said you done pretty damn well considering you went from "that was the worst chat up line ever" to "come dance with me". Sarcasm can get you anywhere, I find it works in any social situation from dealing with AMOGs to opening a set. The key I think is to always have a smirk on your face NOT A SMILE and to narrow yout eyes a little practice this look in the mirror. It lets everyone know your only joking. It also has the effect of DHVing. Good luck mate!
