Sorry, have to interject here. AD's don't affect the pill.

and secondly, just because someone is on anti-depressants DOES NOT make them unstable...

I didn't mean to generalise. It's not just that she's on AD, but it's one more thing that's a worry. Mainly the way she reacted to him though.

No BC is 100%. Even missing a pill by a few hours can significantly hinder its effectiveness. Keep doing what you're doing. People get pregnant on the pill all the time.

Huh. Then it's really interesting how every Dr., and every BC insert stresses the importance to take the pill at the same time every day. The fact is that all BC pills have an extremely short half-life. This is why you have to take it daily instead of weekly. The only way to maintain consistent serum blood levels of the drug is to take it at the same time daily. If the levels dip, the hormone balance can begin to go awry, which then lessens the effectiveness. Facts, not opinions.

Why not suggest that she use the ring, or the shot, or even her getting an IUD. All of those are much more fool-proof than the pill.

Even if a woman doesn't want kids, it still stings a little when a guy says something to the effect of "I am absolutely terrified of the prospect of possibly procreating with you" - so don't go there. It will cause resentment and doubt.

Either start pulling out and praying or tell her you need a condom to desensitize you. "You're so sexy, I need to wear a condom or our sex will only last thirty seconds" I know that's a bit emasculating, but it spares her feelings and keeps you wrapped and baby-free.

Ha. Yes, the do tell you to take it the same time everyday, but they also tell you it's fine if you miss it and take it within 12 hours. 12 hours is their "safe" rule. You are actually covered up to 24.

I said "hinder its effectiveness", not make it COMPLETELY ineffective. All Dr's would advise the patient to take extra precautions for a while if they miss a pill, because it does, in fact, hinder its effectiveness for a few days.
