You can do both.
In most cases you'll begin describing the emotion, then you can add intensifiers like "the more... the more...", "even deeper", etc and link the emotion to something that CAUSES it.
For example:
"When you meet someone special (self point) that's when you know you FEEL GOOD, and if you were to assign a color to this feeling what would it be?"
"Red"
"As my friend Rebecca once said: the more you focus on this red energy spreading all through out your body the more you FEEL GOOD about meeting someone special, and it brings back all the good memories you had in the past and it just makes you want to share incredible moments with this person, me, I sense that's a wonderful relationship that's taking place..."
