What exactly is a Mentalist anyway?
Understandably, a Mentalist is not someone you hear about everyday. One definition says a Mentalist is a performer who uses his five senses to create the “illusion” of a sixth sense. Yet another definition (often found in books about magic), is that a Mentalist is simply a talented Magician who does magic “tricks” that claim to be of a “mind-reading” nature. According to Paul, most definitions are either inaccurate, incomplete or just plain wrong! To set the record straight, Paul believes a Mentalist is a performer who uses telepathy, the power of suggestion and sound psychological principals (i.e.: body language, NLP, voice impressions, micro-expression, etc...) to perceive and influence the thoughts of his audience.
Things You’ll Need:
* Mind
* Concentration
* Patience
* Pad of Post-It notes
* Pen
Instructions
Step1
Procure a pad of Post-It notes, and a pen. That's all you need!
Step2
Figure out who is going to be your dream visitor before you even start talking about dreams, and write his or her name across the top of a post-it at some opportune time. A trip to the bathroom is the perfect opportunity.
Step3
As you are sitting at the table talking to everyone, get your pad of post-its and your pen out, hidden under the table, and set them in your lap.
Step4
Bring up the topic of prophetic dreams, and say that you had one last night.
Step5
Get the pen in your right hand, and the post-its in your left hand.(reverse if left handed)
Step6
Tell the person that they whispered a word in your ear just before you woke up. Ask the to name a word, any one that appeals to them for whatever reason.
Step7
When the person says the word, act VERY surprised, and ask the if there was any reason they chose that word. While she is answering, use the pen to write the word on the post-it on the pad under the table! Yes, you have to write without looking and while listening to their answer, so you might need to practice a bit, but don't worry about sloppy hand writing, no one notices.
Step8
When you've written the word, move the pen to your left hand, and use your free right hand to remove and crumple the top post-it, the one with the name and word.
Step9
Once it's crumpled, both of your hands go into your pockets, the left depositing the pen and post-it pad in the left pocket, and the right hand dropping the clumped post-it in the right pocket. This is all done while talking
Step10
Pretend to root around in your right pocket, pull out whatever is in there, keys, cellphone, and place them on the table, reach down to the very bottom and bring out the note. This is to make it seem like the note was lost in the bottom of your pocket, which is an additional subtle suggestion that you had written the post-it a long time ago. All that remains is to hand the crumpled post-it to the pretty lady, and watch her go into spasms.
That all sounds like a lot I know, but it is really simple once you've practiced a couple times. You should be able to have that crumpled post-it in your pocket in about 15-20 seconds after hearing the word. That is easy, and plenty fast, because you can talk for quite a while before revealing the post-it without arising suspicion.
Like I said at the beginning, please be careful, if presented well, people think this is REAL.
Tips & Warnings
Quote:
* I need to tell you right now, this "trick" scares the hell out of people, so be careful. Like the rest of the tricks on this site, this looks REAL, and I mean REALLY REAL if you present it with conviction. Be careful, you'll flip people right out. The essence of this effect is mind bogglingly simple once you know how it's done. In short, you are producing the balled up post-it _after_ she said the word, but making it seem that it was produced LONG before. Don't worry, follow the simple steps below, practice a couple times, and you will be able to impress cute girls like you never imagined!
