So I just started to learn this NLP stuff and I'm really interested.

Can someone break this stuff down for me. What is a Pattern? how is NLP different from other types of Hypnosis?

Should I just shoot out techniques randomly or should I take a hypnotherapy class?

Has anyone had any success stories using NLP techniques?

Any tips? What the first NLLP techie I should learn?

"Pattern" is used a lot in NLP, usually in the seduction community it just means an NLP routine; imo don't fuck around with memorzing patterns, but pay attention to the language and themes and emotions they use.

NLP was reverse engineered by examining therapeutic techniques by Virginia Satir (The author of the classic book PEOPLEMAKING) and The Wizard of the Desert himself, Milton H. Erickson. NLP frameworks are present in all types of hypnotism, but not all hypnotism is NLP, if that makes any sense.

Find techniques that work for you and you see a use for; ignore the ones you see no use for, but be open to the idea that they'll come up later.

Check out a book called Monsters and Magical Sticks, it's must read.

So if Im using a pattern its totally okay to substitute words and certain phrases as long as I focus on emotions and stuff like "anchoring", "reframing", "submodalities

I am relatively new to NLP as well but have had success with it in the past.

The one thing I can say is, NLP works and is extremely powerful. The one thing you have to keep in mind is "intent". As a warning, know this is powerful stuff and must be used with great care because you can seriously fuck up somebody's life. Danny Boyle just released a film called Trance that deals with hypnotism and is a great example of how this could be potentially dangerous, especially when it comes to love.

That being said, the second most important thing you have to keep in mind is rapport. You cannot hypnotize somebody to do something they do not want to do on some level. I remember reading a Robertson Davies book in high school that touches this very idea.

Just as an example I'll tell you of a previous experience. In high school I took a co-opertaive education/ work placement course and I ran a NLP routine on a female student just so she would feel good. This girl latter associated her feelings of feeling good with me and for like 3 weeks would not stop trying to get my attention. I had no interest in the girl and unfortunately she seemed pretty hurt.

Check out a book called "Monsters and Magical Sticks." It'll set you straight, give you some basics that you can build on, and it's fun and a quick read!
