| Transformational Metaphors are part of Strategic Intervention. Instead of trance words, we're looking at a person's modeling words (deeper into NLP, when you read Partterns of Hypnotic Techbique of Milton Erickson, you learn some about personal metaphor), and then utilizing it. NLP trance words are much more basic and easy to listen for, because they're repetitive words.
A trance word is, "You know, like, I really like to do this, and like, it's just so amazing." The trance word being like. Or, "I feel like I can do a lot of things, it's really important for me to feel something is right."
What you're doing is taking it one step further. You're trying to figure out what is the emotion behind their trance word, what is their metaphor, what is their Model for that word.
Now, once you have their model, you can use anchoring, but, in this case, what you're really doing is just stepping into the way the woman you're talking to sees the world.
A clearer example than the one I gave would be asking her the question. I met this girl in a gym, asked her about her shoes (they were rainbow colored special edition marathon sneakers), she said, "I really LOVE to run, it's truly a passion of mine, I love it a lot, especially the marathon."
"Let me ask, I don't want to take up too much of your time and interrupt this workout, but, what is it about running that you LOVE?" (emphasizing her trance word). "When you're in the Flow (metaphor), it's that push of energy (metaphor), the world dissapears (metaphor) around you, and you're left with yourself and you're destination." This girl was really vividing with her language (you won't always be that lucky, sometimes you'll have to struggle or listen for a singular metaphor).
I now step into her world, "That's amazing... that really sounds powerful, you know, I sometimes feel that way with conversations, does that sound weird... Like you just get into a flow with someone (self-pointing), and you really feel that energy just connecting! With me, that's the closest I get to the world dissapearing... but wow, I mean, that is just such a beautiful way to experience running!" There's a bit of fractionation and confusion--you don't always have to be that complicated, in fact, you could've carried the conversation with the word flow, energy, or world dissapearing.
You want to start by placing one of her metaphors into something you do in life, this way you're creating an understanding of her world that she see's you in.
