Let's say you and your friend are sitting together, talking and spending time.
There is a trick which could indicate and show you if your friend has an empathy for you. This would not work all the time, but when it does you'd know that's it.
--
Let's say that me and my friend are sitting inside my house and watching a movie/talking or doing something that is relaxing. By 'relaxing' I mean that I dont walk anywhere, not doing sports and even not eating. (metabolizing food causes - more energy).
So lets say I'm watching a movie with my friend at home and talking of course.
In the middle of the movie I want to see if there's empathy between me and her.
Of course as I sayed,It might work, and if it does - it's real. If it doesn't work - that doesn't mean that there's no empathy. So what is this 'it' that I talk about?
Well, actually, all I do is Yawn. Yes - Yawn.
Anybody sometime asked why yawning is so infectious?
When I yawn sometimes a friend or family that is around me and have seen me yawning has yawned too. WHY?
Well, the fact is, its a 'Mirror - Neuron reaction'.

Inside our brain there are billions of neurons which connect to each other and they make us who we are. They build our cognition, our speaking, our movements, our thoughts, desires, seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, sensing a touch - it's all made up inside our brain.
Inside our brain we have a system that composed of 'Mirror Neurons' and it's called 'Mirror - Neuron system'. As a matter of fact, the 'job' of this neurons is to live other people's mind. When we see a movement our mirror neurons start to fire and thats how we 'learn' this move just by looking at it. That's how we learn language, thats how we learn movements and thats how we copy things from others.

Yawning causes this 'Mirror Neuron Reaction' and this reaction depends on empathy. Empathy is a mirror neural work. That is what makes people to cry in a dramatic movie,to smile when there is a good ending in a movie,to share pain and to feel compassion.
When my friend has got empathy to me and I yawn, there's a good chance that she will yawn too (but as I sayed it depends also on the environment, the time of day and the situation. While working out - nobody wouldn't yawn).
Here's a link to a YouTube video that explains some things about empathy and mirror neurons:

Few tips:
Timing - timing is important. Dont do this while she's laughing hardly or screaming at the neighbor that disturbs her.

While she talks - while she talks thats not a good idea to yawn because she would think that she bores you and thats not good for your later plans 8) .

While eye contact - when you see a movie or stop talking for a split second (even better - after you sayed something) , there's should be eye contact. when there's eye contact its this moment when you should yawn (and dont do this after she sayed somthing sad/screamed at you or you just had an argument). If she won't see you yawning why the hell should she yawn? :)

This article was written by me - Leon.
If there's a mistake somewhere I would be glad to hear it and to fix it.
If you won't use it in the field, well,at least you've learned about empathy, yawning and mirror-neuron system in our brains.
Good luck! :)
