Every now and again I think it's necessary for certain (the vast majority) of people to read a rant about why they should put less emphasis on NLP and concentrate on building themselves to have more core value and confidence.

This topic was triggered by reading the following in a different thread:
1. The poster of that comment is a complete liar, but I think that's pretty obvious. First of all, to get your facts straight - and this is an old message so bear with me the more experienced ones around - NLP, particularly related to PU, is so ridiculously hyped up and given magic powers. You will NOT develop 'stalkers' as portrayed by the person above, and you will find it very difficult to 'ruin' someones life if it 'goes wrong'. It is not some sort of science experiment. You are not rearranging the inner workings of their mind. It is not magic.

2. You should not be using NLP as a starting point for your game. This is more of an opinion than a fact; but take a very real (and very common) example that I presently have. I have a friend (in the know) who is trying to get with someone, failed, and is now turning to NLP and so called 'forbidden' patterns to 'make it all right'. NLP is not a get out clause. It is not magic. It is not any more powerful than any other standard technique such as negs, per se.

3. The vast majority of people who preach about it here (and if there was a way of measuring this, I would bet 90%+) don't even use NLP in-field, and if they do, it is to very limiting extents. I KNOW this not only from my experience with other PUAs, but from experience with myself. I have a fair amount of knowledge of the subject, and yet I use comparatively TINY amounts of it in field. This is because:

4. NO ONE needs NLP to be an AWESOME PUA. It's just not necessary at all. So many other methods and techniques are equally as potent in a given situation, and far easier and 'normal' to use whilst being congruent with the shit you spew out.

5. Where you SHOULD be using NLP, and this is my opinion, is to enhance your game. Not to make your game.

6. Seriously, you don't actually use NLP in field that much at all, do you? Very few of you can be bothered to memorize enough patterns to make it worthwhile, and those who do, still fewer find they have any decent effect because they don't know how to deliver it, or are not congruent, and STILL fewer are at a stage where they can make it up on the spot. Of course not all NLP relates to patterns, but as far as SS goes, most of it does.

7. When I started using NLP in field a while back, loads of the shit I was doing (and I wasn't exactly doing it terribly bad) had little to no effect. I just looked like a dolt. I have seen other PUAs in action doing the same thing. With experience, I have found what works for me and what doesn't, and the vast majority of it, if it has a tangible effect, is way weaker than what all the magic books and hyped-up spiel makes it out to be (oh, and did I mention, liars who think they know everything on internet forums who never actually go out and use it).

8. There is seriously, seriously only one way to learn NLP, and that is to field test, field test, field test. You will find much of the stuff you preach on the forums don't work - and there are very good reasons for this, and things people can do to make it work, but by the time you implement these, such as the necessity to have a strong frame, dominate the conversation, and be in a quiet environment - you may as well just have used basic MM with a bit of core confidence and have landed the girl anyway!

9. Imagine a hot girl of every type were to read these boards. If they read something about core confidence and natural ability, they wouldn't mind so much. But if they read about this - how much GEEK and DETAIL people through just to get laid - man, that is pitiful, very pitiful. They would laugh.

I can't be bothered to rant anymore.

I shall end with two things:

-I love NLP, and I use what works for me a lot, but mostly in specific situations, which don't always occur.
-Get a grip, drop your NLP magic dreams, and go and get laid.
