what's up guys i'm new to this site and figured i'd start off with my latest anecdote of trying to pick up a chick. also, i don't really know any of the terms and acronyms, so bear with me. this is a long post too.

anyway, i'm at a bar the other night playing pool with a friend, and i've been trying to meet this girl (HB8) i see there all the time but she's always with a couple of dudes (AFCs). i'm pretty sure she's single but it's hard to move in with all them hovering around. finally i introduced myself and we chatted while playing pool. some casual flirting and touching ensued so i ran with it. then i backed off for a bit to not seem clingy and went and played pool on another table.

i met another girl (HB8) and i was playing doubles with her and some other dude. i'd never met any of these people, but it was all good as we were sort of drunk at this point. so when this chick's partner walks off, i was getting ready to leave, and shook her hand, saying things like "nice beating you guys in pool" and other negs, and then she gave me playful teasing about my handshake. so i took that as IOI and showed her a handshake me and my buddies do to keep the touching going or whatever.

then i turned it into a thumb wrestling match; it was going good as she was laughing and punching me in the arm and whatnot, so we talked for a bit.

anyway, she brought up that she lived across the street and i explained that i'd never been to the apartments or whatever, she said something like "oh, well i'd invite you over tonight, but blah blah blah..." i was about to get a number, then she went to the bar to close a tab or whatever. i started bullshitting with the other guy, and he said something like "yeah that's Phil's girlfriend".

which is weird. i'm pretty sure they weren't going out as they didn't act like they were together. i think the guy was jealous of me and trying to cock block me. but i was kinda thrashed at this point, so i said fuck it and left.

my questions:

1) how do i get the first girl interested and away from her clingy chump friends?

2) i think that guy was full of shit. she was vibing me, and he knew it, so he tried to cock block me. how should i have responded?

unless she brings it up as a block, it shouldnt bother you. she didnt say anything about phil and if you end up hooking up with her, chances are your doing phil a favor because shes not relationship material. he prolly hasnt seen the light yet
