I'm new here... the name is clyde... can anyone help me where to get started?

Building your social skills is a long term, slow process involving a LOT of work and going through painful experiences. I would begin by focusing on yourself and your personal goals including these topics:

-Physical body (diet/exercise)
-Spiritual well being (prayer/meditation/or just pursuing your passions)
-Personal relationships (friends/family/community)
-Professional life (career/school)

Make sure you are taking action to grow in each of those areas. Then you can begin reading different posts on this forum. You will read about different books, resources and PUA instructors. Find instructors that are a bit like you. The best advice I ever received was not to pick somebody who had a totally different personality type to try to become. If you are a complete introvert, find another introvert who is living a successful social life and learn what they did, etc..
