My story in as few words as possible:

I'm 40 and I've been happily married for 13 years. My wife is a gorgeous and amazing woman. I have no desire nor reason to cheat on her.

So why am I here?

I suck at making friends. I'm HORRIBLE at it.

I live in Dallas, TX and am a big fan of local music. But when there's a good show coming up, 9 times out of 10 I end up going by myself. I see a lot of the same local bands over and over again and the usually have their corps of loyal fans/friends/family who, like me, go to almost all of their shows. One would THINK that being in the same place with so many people I have such intense common interests with, I'd be able to actually make friends, but nope. We rock out together at the shows, don't get me wrong, but "it" ends when the music ends and doesn't start again until the next show. They all seem to have cliqued off with each other (meaning, I feel like I'm the only one there who went alone) and I just can't seem to "get in" if that makes sense. I don't sense that they DISLIKE me don't get me wrong, but I feel like they see me as "that one dude that's always here" and nothing more.

I'm a huge football fan too and quite often end up watching the games on Sunday by myself. I love live sports too, especially minor league sports - love the pricetag!

I want to have FRIENDS - REAL FRIENDS - and quite frankly I don't care if they're girls OR guys as long as they're cool, loyal and don't do illegal drugs - who I can call up and say, hey, let's go to this concert, or hey, let's go to the hockey game, or the baseball game, or the sports bar etc.

Don't get me wrong, my wife is a wonderful friend, and we go to movies, museums, restaurants, parks, karaoke bars, theater shows and the OCCASIONAL concert (our musical tastes are, unfortunately, about 80% disjoint) etc., but no man can rely exclusively on only his wife's friendship.

Watch the move I Love You, Man - that's me.

SO

Will any of the skills that lead to being a good pickup artist translate to becoming an effective (or at least MORE effective) friendmaker?

Thoughts welcome.

Thanks
DTXCF

Yes. 100%.

A true pick up artist is a master of being social.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks.

I would assume that I'll also have a chance, if I put in the effort, to learn tricks for "seducing" my own wife as well, making her really want me and spicing things up for us in that "department" if you know what I mean (and I'm sure you do!).
