Hi, i'm jonny. I came out of a cult about a year a go, and braught my now ex girlfriend out with me. Things didn't work out. We're over, but she's moved on, and 6 months down the line, i'm still fannying around by myself like a twit.

It's a bit wierd for me because once you leave a cult, all your friends cut you off, and i've never really had to chat up any girl. I was taught to repress these feelings rather than pursue them, so now i find myself out of touch with what i like to call 'normal' people at 25.

I'm told i look like a model, not that this gives me much confidence anyway, especially if someone disses my appearance. I've hardly approached any women when i go to bars with house mates.

Problem is they don't go out to bars normally but i feel paranoid going out by myself.

Well, that's a bit of my story. I feel like shit having learned my ex moved on even though i ended it. Hopefully you lads can help me out. Feels a bit wierd asking for help to strangers, but at least i can tell you i came from a cult. Most people don't know this about me.

I need someone to tell me to get a grip!

You need to learn to rely on yourself. You have been listening to a cult leader all your life and many of his commands and beliefs are probably still stuck in your subconscious. However, I am proud that you have found the strength to find freedom. Nothing is better than Freedom my friend, :) You are free.

Now its time to be your own boss. Its time to be the captain of your ship. Its time For you to have cult leader status. You make your own rules. You follow your own orders.

I recommend that you read Self-reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson. I offer you my own writings on how you to become your own man as a pua: 1-vt137103.html?start=0

and lastly I offer you Invictus. A poem that inspired Nelson Mandela through 27 years in prison to eventually become the President of South Africa.

Invictus (Unconquerable)
by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank God for my
unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Cheers for your replies lads. As you can probably understand, i'm still getting used to how i'm supposed to live. And yes, i still feel some things are strongly ingrained in to my subconscious.

Hopefully i can learn to get rid of it!
