Well I guess its been long enough lurking to finally introduce myself.

My name is Matthew and I live in Middle Tennessee just south of Nashville in a city called Murfreesboro.

I have been reading and studying PU in an analytical sense since I was a junior in High school.

I am 25 now.

I have used some techniques and been marginally successful on a few attempts but overall not very successful as a whole.

To give an example I went out today because I was feeling good, the sun was shining and I had started becoming a lot more social since I started my job as a night shift security guard. This plus my schooling leaves me with weird sleeping hours but my own social awkwardness leaves me with little social interaction.
Anyway I went out today and decided to work on my presence, eye contact, and maybe even start a few conversations (Once I get started I am actually pretty good with people) anyway the entire time I was there people where going out of there way to avoid me. Most people wouldn't meet eye contact with me and those that did seemed at best distracted and at worst a bit uncomfortable. I have no idea what I did wrong or what I needed to do instead. I was clean, well groomed, and genuinely happy to be there and not just putting on a fake smile, though towards the end it was a fake smile as I tried to get out of there as quick as possible. The whole situation made me want to wash the memory out of my brain with bullets.
Anyway I figure this is a good way to explain who I am and what I need to work on. Hopefully someone can give me a hand and show me what I am doing wrong (provided its what I am doing and not who I am that is the problem)

Where'd you try to meet people?

Try the grocery store... try Target, Best Buy, Barnes & Nobles... etc... You can use tools to help open, you can always find ways to 'bump' into them... Then open and move forward.

The best advice for you is to do this at least 10x a day. The more you open, the better you'll do, the more you fail the better you'll learn from it and build the "DILLIGAF" mindset.
