Hey guys. I am a forum member who joined last year, but felt that - for reasons I won't get into - I wasn't mature enough to start introducing myself to women. It was less than two months since I had been dumped by my now ex-girlfriend.

First I should say where I'm from: Dunedin, New Zealand. I am a 23 year-old Anglo-Saxon Male, and a fledgling singer-songwriter. At the moment, I'm looking for part-time work to supplement my studies, mainly because I have made no friends at all through university. And don't think I haven't tried, guys.

Anyway, I am tired of "flying solo" on a Thursday night, because people here just don't go out on their own. Even the young tourists seem to hang out in groups. As a result, if you are sitting alone at a bar women will make a lot of negative assumptions about you. Further, what I've found is that people (both men and women) my age here are very casual and risk averse - unless they're drunk, which of course makes them pretty shitty company. I am a very driven and purposeful man: I need intimacy and intensity to be happy, so have nothing but contempt for the losers who get trashed at parties. More than anything, I really want a girlfriend again. Hookups have no appeal to me whatsoever.

I don't know if there are other guys interested in game nearby who have a similar view. If so, I have started a thread here: topic198603.html and we can meet up. General comments are welcome of course.
